Willow was adopted from the RSPCA when she was almost a year old, and was given the nickname Baby Bear. She was 19 when she passed away – she fell asleep in her owner’s arms (was put to sleep at home) – having given over 18 years of unconditional love. She was a true little lady with a very warm & loving personality, and is greatly missed every day. She had a love of sharing food, even stealing it off the plate if you turned your back for two minutes. She beat cancer 5 years ago too – a proper hardy little cat – and bounced back quickly. She loved cuddles – a gentle and loving soul who brought happiness to her home, owners, and other pets.
It’s always a challenge drawing black fur with coloured pencil – a fine balance between getting enough depth of colour, without losing detail in the darkness. Willow’s portrait required many layers of colour to be built up gradually whilst the large A3 size allowed for plenty of detail.
