Like the Dales Pony, the Highland Pony is native to moors and mountains. Due to their environment, they’ve adapted to become a hardy, healthy, and fairly economical breed to keep, and are still used in a working capacity in remote parts of Scotland today. Their stamina makes Highland Ponies well-suited to driving and trekking, and they are commonly crossed with Thoroughbreds to produce a good eventing horse.
